Ann Granger Signing

We were very pleased to meet with author Ann Granger and her husband John today. Ann came in at exactly the right moment as the photographer from the Cotswold Journal was raring to go.

Ann sold heaps of her books. Two ladies went out with at least eight books each and the total sales for the morning approached forty. In fact we were often too busy to offer wine to our customers so now we will have the bother of drinking it all!

Another highlight of the morning was the wonderful cake that Marilyn made. She had decorated it in the colours that appear on the jacket of Rack, Ruin and Murder and Ann and John were most impressed.Thank you Marilyn and thank you Ann and John for a great morning.

(There are a few signed copies left - first come, first served)

Aphrodite's Hat - A Box of Delights.

The Box of Delights by John Masefield was one of my favourite books, as a child, and though I've not read it for ages, I suspect it would still engage me.

I was reminded of it when I read the Guardian blurb on the jacket of Salley Vicker's latest paperback.

(If you cannot quite read it, click on the image)

Aphrodite's Hat is already very much in fashion - could be the Ascot effect.

PS Ann Granger was on the phone today to see if all was ready for the signing on Saturday morning - it is.

Don't forget the special deal on the day plus cake and drinky-poos.

Ann Granger and IBW

Don't forget our Ann Granger signing at 10.30 this Saturday (11 June).

Ann is coming along to support us as a lead-in to Independent Booksellers Week (18th - 25th June).

Don't forget, there's a special deal on the day, £5.00 off the price of Rack, Ruin and Murder or a free Ann Granger paperback.

There will also be cake and wine (for the signing, not for the whole IBW, obviously!) so do come along and support us too.

Ann Granger Window

The good folks at The Bookshop in Colne, Lancashire
( bookshopcolne on Twitter) were kind enough to let us pinch one of their ideas for a window.

By no means as good as theirs, we have used the idea to promote our book signing for Ann Granger on Saturday 11 June (10.30 am).

It's still missing the murder weapon and I can tell you that the body in Rack Ruin and Murder was NOT found in a suitcase but we couldn't fit a sofa in the window!

If you want to know any more, come along on the Saturday. There is a special offer of £5.00 off the price of Ann's new title or, if you pay full price, a free Ann Granger paperback.

Here's a link to a blog by one of our followers - http://www.fiction-books.biz/new-titles/a-date-with-ann-granger/ Thanks Yvonne - that's a great write up.

Ann Granger Date

Delighted to hear that Ann Granger can make it to a book signing on Sat 11th June for her new Campbell and Carter Cotswold Murder Mystery.

I've recently finished her new book and will chat about it soon, once the next issue of Moreton/Bourton/Stow Times hits the streets.

Meantime, we hope to arrange a very special deal with the publishers so do give our page a look in the Times for news on that.

We are going to have a busy summer with three or four other authors already lined up to see us.

Here's a link to Fiction Books and a great write up for Ann Granger. Thanks Yvonne! http://www.fiction-books.biz/new-titles/a-date-with-ann-granger/

Local writers

Now we have all our local authors in one place (apart from MC Beaton who has a unit entirely to herself!)

Jane Bailey is there with her two charming tales, as are Julian Roach, Henry Porter, Paul W. Nash and Rebecca Tope (who sold even more than usual because of our apple window). Phil Rickman and Veronica Stallwood also have their murder mysteries on the shelves and we've re-stocked Ann Granger too.

We are we're hoping that Ann will come for a signing in June. We've not met her yet but her Mitchell and Markby Cotswold series have sold very well and I've enjoyed them too.

She has a new Cotswold series out now starring 'Campbell and Carter'. The first is Mud, Muck and Dead Bodies and the hardback due in June is Rack, Ruin and Murder.
