Agatha's Companion

Just arrived - we now have Agatha Raisin's Companion in the shop. No, not the cat, nor one of her many boyfriends. This is The Agatha Raisin Companion - a must for every fan of MC Beaton's amazing string of hits.

It is full of detail not found in the novels It contains what is virtually a potted biography, an insight into village life of Carsley, a quiz and even some of the recipes mentioned in the books.

We have a book signing hopefully lined up for Saturday 13 November when all her books will be available.

  1. I want to share this event with some of my blog followers, as I know many of them are avid readers of her work. Do you know when this date will be confirmed?

  2. Yes. Date now confirmed as 13th November at 11 am.

We usually have a fair number of fans, the more the merrier, but don't expect them in the numbers we had for Justin Thyme.

  3. Thanks for letting me know so promptly, I appreciate it.

I talk on a regular basis to several people who read her books, many of whom live in the Oxford, Cheltenham and Gloucester areas, so not a million miles away. I will let them all know about the confirmed date.

The blog is great, by the way, but it may be worth your while to think about a 'Twitter' account, so that you could keep people in the local area up to date on important new arrivals, events etc.

Anything to ensure the continued success of local indie booksellers!!

    Thank you
    Yvonne

  4. Hi Yvonne. We do have a twitter account which is used when we have time. I'm really not sure if it makes any difference. (We are Cotswoldbooks on Twitter as the full name wouldn't fit.)

We find that ads/chat in the local free mags Moreton/Bourton/Stow Times magazine has the most effect. That and our in house leaflets, posters round the town and in the window and us yacking on.

Thanks for the compliment on the blog but it's not at all planned. Just random jottings at the end of the day really. Again, I doubt many people look at it. There's not enough time. I'm not so sure if success is the right word to use for us either but we are still open and enjoying life.

Give me a link to your blog please.
    Tony

  5. Hi Tony,

Hope the book signing yesterday was a great success. The weather here was very hit and miss, but I hope that if you also had the rain, it didn't spoil anyone's enjoyment.

Found your twitter link and started following you.

Like yourself, I am not sure how effective some of the social media networking actually is and I certainly don't sit glued to it all day, as many seem to.

Others seem to whizz through books and reviews, up to 3 or 4 a day, apparently just to get multiple blog posts entered and achieve a high level of comments.

I only post when I have something to say and seldom finish more than 1 or 2 books a week. I have made some quite good friends over the weeks, but will not hesitate to stop if it becomes onerous.

    Blog link is http://www.fiction-books.biz/

    Best Wishes
    Yvonne
